We bought this sand table for our three-year-old not to fill with sand but with dried beans so we could use it indoors. We had been filling cookie sheets with beans so his diggers and dump trucks could have an excavation site, but we were constantly picking up dried beans from the floor. This was to be our solution. Well, we're still picking beans up from the floor, but the table is a big hit. It was the favorite activity at our son's three-year-old birthday party when we were confined indoors due to hot and humid weather. I'm sure it will work well if you use it as intended--outdoors and with sand. It's very well built, as we've found all the products in the Naturally Playful Step 2 line to be. The top fits very snugly. I will add that I balked at paying -something in shipping charges, so we bought this table directly from the Step 2 web site. It arrived in three days, via Fed Ex, and the shipping charges were less than (I don't remember the exact amount). (I wasn't able to find it in any stores, only online.)

We purchased after a prior small (3' by 3') sand box was broken in a move. Living in an apartment, we only have small patio space to put our outdoor toys on, and because my son is older now (4) we opted for the table rather than sand box. So far, after having it outside for one month with several rainy days, we've experienced no leaking like other reviewers mentioned. It's great for building sand castles, digging tunnels, etc. My only complaint is that it's a bit shallow (about 4" deep), but this doesn't really stop the fun.

The upside is that is holds one 50 lb. bag of sand, about -6 worth. Just a side note: make sure when you are purchasing sand that it is play-grade, and silica-free. Home Depot's store brand of play sand does have silica, you will know that it has silica if there are cancer warnings on the bag. Lowe's offers Silica-free play sand at /50 lb. bag.

The bucket and scoops that are included are fun too.

Mattel DC Universe Blue Beetle Figure Reviews

I've fairly recently gained an appreciation for this character as I like to call him "Bruce Wayne without the baggage!" He's the type of hero I think we'd all probably be if we had Daddy Warbucks dough lying around and of course an inclination to want to fight crime. This figure is very exceptional. Its probably the first major mass market release of BB and it delivers where it needs to. Standard superhero body sculpt, fair and useful articulation, excellent detail, clean paint apps in most instances. It has everything you'd expect in this field of product and nothing you don't need. He does come with a rather puny but neccessary "BB gun" which is a hoot if you read the statistics on what it "can do". Posing him in "gun toting spy" stances is probably one thing you'll enjoy doing with this figure and he looks great next to the other major heroes of the league. A recommended buy.

This is Blue Beetle from wave 7 of the DC Universe Classics line. Ted Kord inherited the mantle of Blue Beetle and uses technology, wits and athleticism to fight crime as opposed to super powers. Earlier and later versions of Blue Beetle do use powers.

The figure is a solid, fun and visually impressive piece. Based on the standard DCU body he sports great articulation, ball joint neck, ball shoulders, pin elbows and his hands rotate, a tilt torso joint, cut waist joint, the great hip joints that allow forward and back and side to side movement without making the sculpt look funny like ball hips do, pin knees and ankles. In summary, a great amount to get plenty of cool super hero poses without over doing it or hindering the look of the figure.

It is a typical super hero body. However, the head sculpt with the yellow "bubble" style goggles really sells the figure. You can clearly see his eyes and the goggles themselves look terrific and are iconic for the character.

They've done a clean job on the paint with his blue on blue scheme. The beetle design on his chest is perfect and clean and even someone only slightly familiar with the character will recognize him. The black outline highlights look great. The only tiny area of slop at all is where they applied the yellow at the front of his belt. Otherwise the paint is perfect.

Last are accessories. He has his gun, which is a kind of fat but also futuristic affair - imagine Buck Rodgers' hair dryer maybe. It is silver with metallic blue knobs on each side and is kind of retro cool looking. It can be held in either hand. His belt has a holster in which to store the gun which is tailored for a perfect, if bulky, fit. It does have a strap clasp but I have not been able to successfully latch the tiny hole over the tiny soft peg to actually close it and don't want to force it and break it so I'm not sold on the functionality of the design there.

He also has a piece of Atom Smasher the collect and connect (read: build a figure) for this line. He's a big dude, about 9" tall, and sports great sculpt, articulation and paint all his own. He's worth it if you're interested in buying the entire line at all. If not then you'll have an extra arm or leg or head just hanging around.

Overall, a really good looking and fun figure with only the tiny bit of paint slop and non functional holder clasp holding it back from perfection.

First of all let's just clear something up about all these negative reviews: as for popping off parts, in the instructions it SAYS that parts are made to pop off during transformation so that if YOU the user was forcing it too much, it will pop off (and can be easily popped back on) instead of snapping and breaking off (like if you were to force an older gen Transformers figure). Its a feature to save kids from breaking their brand new favorite Bumblebee people. Try reading the instructions.

Admitedly, yes, several of the new movie Transformers have some of the most insane Transformations I have ever seen in a Transformer. I think its impressive and wowed me. It was a lot more like the way they move about in the films. Gone are the days of flip the calves/feet down, pop out the arms, rotate torso, flip up head DONE. And there is a very good reason for that: creating a FAR SUPERIOR robot mode. The robot modes are so impressive in these new Transformers its insane and this Bumblebee is TOTALLY my favorite. He's extremely close to be the spitting image of his on screen self. Amazing head sculpt with perfect detailing, even his chest plate folds down in the center like its supposed to on film (which its not flipped down all the way in package, just FYI). I love this figure to death. Its one of my favorite Transformers ever, and I've been messing with these things since Bumblebee was just a little Bug with articulated arms and a flip up head that couldn't turn and a hologram logo on his chest/roof. This figure is amazing. Period. The kid in me that loves robots and cars is happy in both modes. The adult in me that can respect sculpting, articulation and engineering is even more wowwed. Don't listen to these haters. If you love Transformers, want the best Bumblebee ever made, and can READ SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS properly, then do not pass up this amazing toy!

I've read that a lot of people have had problems with this figure. The only problem that is reaccurring with me are the shoulder pieces during transformation from robot to car mode. They like to pop off frequently, but nothing a little superglue couldn't fix. This is still the same Bumblebee layout from the first movie's line, only with added features. The figure, in addition to the new sculpt in car mode, has a new movie acurrate head sculpt as well. Also, this figure comes with an updated arm cannon that when in robot mode, flips out allowing you to insert the fire missle for the shooting gimmic. Other than that, not much new about this one. This figure's arm cannon can be removed and actually needs to be in order to transform into car mode. The instructions show that when in car mode, the cannon with the missle inserted can be stored into the empty space under the car. Overall a much nicer presentation than the previous movie line, with a few flaws, not enough to take it down any. The transformation is the same as the previous movie Bumblebee. There is also a Shoulder Cannon Bumblebee, with similar car and robot mode, in this new movie's toy line. I've seen the transformation for that one and it is complicated and drastically different compared to the other one. Highly recommend getting this one though.

Transformers Deluxe Bumblebee with Battlecannons Reviews

My 4 year-old son wanted a Bumblebee Transformer and I didn't want to pay scalper's prices of over for the other Bumblebee I've seen out there, so this one was it. And I tell you, it's just what it should be and what I expected.

So here's what I expected:

It's a smaller toy with a fairly complex transformation from car to robot and back again - as advertised right on the package (three out of four stars in "transformation complexity"). To be honest, I couldn't do it the first time and had to wait for the husband to come to the rescue (I skipped a step - shame on me). After I saw it transform I got it too. My four year-old not so much yet - we still have to finish it for him but I wasn't really expecting him to be able to do it in the first place.

It's not durable enough to bash against the wall, but it's more durable than I thought it would be with smaller moving plastic parts that can be very flexible. It held up under me trying to transform it with my "when in doubt, force it" mentality. It's withstood my son's play for over a week now and is never far from him. He loves it. Especially the battle canons, which he flips up in car mode and calls them the car's "eyes".

So thankfully this toy was exactly what I was expecting and absolutely didn't let my son down, which was my main criteria!

Cannon Bumblebee is a new toy from the movie Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF), with a feature that as far as I remember, doesn't appear in this movie.

I remember Bumblebee using arm mounted missile launchers in the FIRST movie: During the battle of Mission City he rode on a tow truck driven by Mikaela and he used the cannons to shoot Decepticon Brawl (or "Devastator", as it liked to call itself).

Of course, it makes sense that Bumblebee keeps his cannons after the battle, but I don't remember seeing him using them this time around... and sadly there's no '07 concept Camaro toy with these shoulder cannons either.

Now on to the toy:

PROS:

- Completely new mold... at least from the hips up:

The robot's legs and feet are the very same mold that we already know form all the Deluxe toy versions from the first movie and also the ROTF Preview Deluxe version (the one that has the arm cannon molded instead of a hand).

The new hips feature double jointed ball joints (if that makes sense) to hold the legs, which allows for more dinamic poses, but also make Bumblebee taller than all the other Deluxe BBs by about 3mm.

- Better accuracy:

The head is very accurate and a VAST improvement over ANY Deluxe BB toy from the first movie. It may be the same head sculpt used by the recent ROTF Preview Deluxe BB toy, but I don't have that one to compare.

And then there's the arms, which finally got fixed and don't have a piece of the roof attached to them. Great improvement here too, plus we now get a moveable thumb.

- Better plastic and build:

The new toys are made of a softer plastic than the old movie ones. This is good, because the automorph feature on his feet feels less fragile than the old toys. As a whole, the toy feels very sturdy, so it'll last quite some time.

- More detail:

The ribs and back of the robot end up as the dashboard and seats when you transform the toy to car mode. This great detail. It's like icing on the cake, because all the new sculpted parts also have quite good detailing.

- Better articulation & poseability:

Notably in the head and arms. The head sits higher, allowing more movement. The arms have more clearance at the shoulders and the elbow joint works better because there's no interference from the roof piece as in the old toy.

CONS (not that there are many):

- No swivel hip anymore. Actually, old BB had a ball joint between the hip and the chest. This toy doesn't have it, because the chest and hip transformation is completely different. Poseability has been compromised here, and BB has his chest and hip pointing always in the same direction. The body looks too bulky to me.

- Strudier plastic in the windows means that the blue windows are NOT transparent anymore... more like "translucent". This is a shame because the nice detail of the seats and dash that I mentioned earlier just can't be seen from the outside (unless you open the doors).

- New transformation gave us better arms, but now the chest of the robot (which is the fron of the car) doesn't sepparate in three pieces, as it did in the old toy and in the movie.

- Moving the windshield up or down in the transformation process is very tricky. It seems some plastic scratching and paint rubbing will happen very soon.

Overall, the pros far outweigh all of the cons for this toy. It's a GREAT improvement over all the previous Deluxe sized Bumblebees in terms of movie-likeness and durability and I'm sure kids and adult collectors will appreciate it for this.

However, I believe kids will have a hard time transforming this one, and may enjoy the older molds better (for example ROTF Preview Deluxe BB, or any of the old movie versions).

I bought this for my son because he wouldn't stop talking about it. I first checked every Walmart and Toys 'R Us in toy and couldn't find a starter or battle pack. They are cute little toys and the game is decently fun for an adult, but the kids are crazy over it. They won't stop playing. My son (almost 6) hasn't touched a video game, watched tv, or played with any other toys since he got it. He just spends all his free time with his Bakugan (haven't decided if this is good or bad).

This toy is the best toy I ever got! It includes twelve cards (six gate cards and six ability cards) and six random B2 Bakugan Brawlers (balls). The only problem is that the balls do not fit in the Bakugan launcer (not the handheld launcher, the launcher you put on your arm). You can still buy the older smaller balls wich will fit, or you can buy the handheld launcher. Anyway, this is a great product, a must have!
